Sunset Too

Sunset Too is beachfront in one of the best parts of Captiva Island. This is a great location on a quiet corner, yet with easy walking convenience to shops and restaurants. Sunset Too is a traditional Captiva-style cottage, ground level for easy access.

Walk right out onto the beach anytime – it’s so delightful to be this close! Enjoy the partial beach view from the west side screened porch, or relax privately in the furnished yard and take advantage of Captiva’s sunshine and great weather. The cottage is equipped with a washer and dryer, and a TV in the living room. The kitchen has all new appliances including a side-by-side fridge, glass top range, double sink, and dishwasher.

Sunset Too has two bedrooms (king and twin beds, each bedroom with a TV), plus a queen-sleep sofa in the living room. There are two full bathrooms, both en suite.

All reservations/cancellations are subject to the terms and conditions (policies) of the American Realty Rental Agreement once the reservation is booked thru 3rd party platforms.

  It's a great location. Walk down the beach to the Mucky Duck or a short walk on the street to the Green Flash. Overall a great house that needs a little TLC. The garbage disposal either needs to be electrically connected so it functions or removed and a trap installed. Bad odor from garbage disposal. TV in twin bed bedroom needs to be connected. Storm door on screened in porch needs to be repaired. Need hooks on walls for hanging jackets and such. Perimeter lighting in great room ceiling is overloading the wall switch causing it to overheat and lights to flicker. Might be a fire hazard. Maybe need to split lighting to two or three switches.

  We didn't like our stay at Sunset Too--WE LOVED IT!! From the first moment as we made our way along its lengthy driveway surrounded by the most beautiful tropical foliage, we realized we were entering another world filled with waves and amazing clouds, seashells and sandpipers, lazy days and night walks along the beach. Sunset Too is the quintessential beach house--compact, private, cozy and yes, the best place to watch the fabulous sunsets for which it is named. It is well-equipped, clean, classic in it's simplicity and decor (I love blue and white!!)--totally comfortable--a peaceful place to stop a while and really appreciate life and the people you love and this incredibly beautiful place we call Earth.

  We had a fantastic stay in Captiva which is a terrific island. This home was the perfect size for our family of four. The location...20 feet from the beach and a two minute walk to the main part of town and many of the island restaurants. The house was clean and well equipped but in desperate need of some TLC. The cabinets in the kitchen have doors and shelves missing/falling off. The blinds are falling apart. The carpet in the bedrooms needs to be replaced- it is very dirty and stained as well as pulling up in places. The tile grout is very dirty in some areas and the tile is cracked in several places. The beds were okay. The porch area is very nice. There should be many more rugs by the doors to catch sand which tracks in no matter how well you rinse. There need to be a lot more places to hang wet suits and towels. The rental company was very responsive when we called with a concern. Overall we loved our stay, but the house needs some repairs.

  My wife and I enjoyed staying at Sunset Too with several friends. The cottage layout was perfect for giving each couple their own space while providing ample common area. The proximity to the beach was what made the stay truly delightful. The property was very clean upon arrival and well stocked with necessities. Only ding would be the condition of rugs in bedrooms which were stained and needed replacement.

  This was our first time at Sunset Too. Such a nice little property but very close to neighbors. Partying neighbors on one side and loud on the other. But they were just enjoying themselves.
  It was their vacation time, too. We'll be back to Captiva, just not at this property. American Realty was wonderful to work with as always.

  Pros: First and foremost, the location is spectacular!!!! It's right on the beach and the perfect location for watching the gorgeous sunsets. The kitchen is well stocked and the towels in the bathroom were fresh and new. The furniture coordinates, is comfortable and looks nice. Thank you for being pet friendly. Cons: Beyond that it's disappointing because with a small investment, massive changes could be made in the property. The carpet in the bedroom is dirty and wrinkled. The hole in the cabinet where a door should be is sad. The wires hanging down from the TV is nothing short of "redneck". Speaking of "redneck" we taped up the Clinton era vertical blinds with duct tape because they kept falling down. The screen in porch needs to be cleaned, rust removed and repainted. The disposal once worked, but doesn't now, so left over food had to be put in the trash can. One last item, the outdoor trash cans need to be replaced. There are holes where the bars were, so rolling them to the street is an effort. So, in short, the positives are fabulous, the negatives could be rectified. It just feels like no one loves the place. We extended an extra week because we loved the location, the sunsets and the weather.

  All was great except for two things. We did not have enough blankets for the first night, which was cool. They brought us one the next day but the weather warmed and we did not need it.Also, the kitchen sink drain did not work well and the dishwasher drained up into the sink, a possible health hazard. We were warned so we were very diligent about not letting anything go down the drain. It was annoying when cleaning up not to have the drain just flow. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the place.

  The property has the ideal location. Walk out the back door and you are on the beach with a short walk to The Mucky Duck. Walk out the front door and you are a 5 minute walk to RC Otters, Key Lime Bistro and The Bubble Room. The house was very clean and well appointed with all the kitchen necessities, linens and beach towels. Awesome gas grill which came in handy and they refill the tank if you run low. Plenty of umbrellas to shade from the sun. There were some minor maintenance issues but they were addressed immediately and had no impact on our stay. I enjoyed our vacation so much and hope to rent the house again next year.
